root and overclock samsung galaxy s2

hi all just wondered if any one has done this, i see that it will overclock 1.5ghz with no probs, also is it worth doing.

I'm not sure about your phone, but I rooted my xperia x10 using "Superuser v2" and use SetCPU. I also use SD speed Increase and Chainfire3D. All great apps. I can't overclock my cpu unfortunately but I can set profiles so it sits at 100% cpu speed all the time and doesn't go into powersaving mode. I found it made a big difference to performance, everything is instant but battery life drops quite a lot (But I also have a powersaving profile for when i'm not playing games or using heavy usage apps).

cheers chris, i have seen people overclock them to 2ghz but say 1.5 is perfect and will cause no worrys, just wondered if its worth doing you would think a 2x 1.2ghz processor in a phone would be enough.

I get by just fine with 1x 1ghz! So I'm assuming that will fly along.

Mine has been fast enough for everything I've tried so far, overclocking will just munch the battery even faster

I know it's a totally different phone brand but a similar spec so maybe this will be helpful. I rooted and overclocked my HTC Sensation using Revolution S-OFF and clockworkmod to flash a custom ROM and found overclocking absolutely killed the battery even after calibrating it and charging/discharging several times.
