I have a D5000 I bought from Argos and got it insured for 3 years accidental, technical etc. Now I recently bought a D200 s/h, without a receipt etc as private. How would I be able to get that insured? Nowhere seems to want to do it, but surely there must be a way? I mean, if you bought a used 600mm with no warranty,..., you'd want it covered right?

You've used the words "insurance" and "warranty" as if they're interchangeable, they're not.

Which is it you want, a warranty that will cover mechanical/manufacturing defects, or insurance against accidental damage?

I mean insurance as the current insurance I have with Argos covers accidental and technical defects.

Try E&L,there Dirt cheap to cover your gear. Its costing me £6 a month for all my gear, about £1500+.

Thanks, I'll have a look

I suspect the fact it's s/h won't affect its insurability; how many things in your house have you got receipts for and can prove you bought?

Which insurers have you tried?....

I'll be giving them a call tomorrow :)

I'd tried Jessops, Jacobs, my bank, and some other one I just can't remember!

I have my stuff insured for loss and accidental damage under the house insurance, only costs a few quid a year extra.

I've got my gear insured with aaduki, they said insuring second hand was fine. I have no personal experience with e&l but i've only seen bad things mentioned on here, might be worth checking them out before you sign up.
