I uploaded a few pictures in a Flickr group: Abandoned to Time (NO GRAFFITI, PEOPLE, TRASH, VIDEO, or PARKS).

These are the pictures in question.

Here's a link to the page that I was sent in my banning PM.

So can someone explain to me why uploading those 4 images got me completely banned from a group?

I can only think they might be thinking its on show so therefore not abandoned but they have ridiculously strict rules!!

They are lovely shots.

complain...i dont think those things are still in use..

no explanation seems to be in the email

I'm not too sure I get this. Rolliejoe sets some arbitary criteria for some pics he'd like to see and then people (nearly a 1000 of them ) all go and upload pics to satisfy his wants.

If he doesn't like what you do, he boots you out.

Seems odd to me. By my reckoning if you want to shoot pics to satisfy others, get some clients. If you want to shoot images you like, go get 'em and let Rolliejoe pull his lip over his head and swallow. :)

I'm not that bothered about the group. I just thought it was extremely sad of how they banned me for 4 images they may not think should be part of the group. I've already posted images inside the group which were accepted.

The group sounds like total and utter poo and totally undeserving of your shots that are anything but.

I understand why you joined, but I get really turned off by groups with rules like that. His profile is interesting - if he's as great a guy as those who wrote his testimonials think, why not send him a PM and ask why he felt you needed to be banned?

NOTHING "STAGED" TO MAKE IT APPEAR ABANDONED

Images taken in MUSEUMS ARE NOT ALLOWED. Inasmuch as being maintained by the museum, that act alone = the fact it is NOT ABANDONED TO TIME.

I suspect they felt that one of these may have been breached.

Wasn't in a Museum. It was found where I work and cleaned up a bit. It's just the fact I was banned confused me. Why not just reject the photos from the group?

And thanks for your words guys!

There you go --- you unabandoned the thing!

It was way too harsh to ban you though and I see why you are miffed.

I never even knew there are closed groups on Flickr though I had to write a nice little note to the National Trust one to be accepted, but that's public in terms of viewing. Why do they do that on a photo sharing site?

There are a lot sadder things out there. It's just some internet flickr group! forget about it.

If that's the saddest thing you've ever experienced you've had a pretty good life. Shrug your shoulders and move on. Why do you care what some stranger on the internet thinks about your photos?
