Sending to BFPO is only free for individuals, NOT companies.

on another note, anyone wishing to send anything during the 'postal difficulties' can rest assured that the Royal Mail and BFPO have a plan in place.

The Lt Col in charge of BFPO was on BFBS (our forces radio) today explaining.

As long as you go into a Post Office, hand your letter/ parcel/ packet to the person behind the counter and reinforce the fact that it is going to a BFPO address then it will be accepted and put in a special service to BFPO at Northolt.

OUR mail will get through! (cynical me thinks RM dont want to face the public when squaddies get no Xmas pressies in Afghan!)

aha thanks for the heads up
and good to hear that the lads will continue to get their post (y)

if it was sent direct - then we could get the VAT back
but then it has to be ordered from Afghanistan
can't order it here (and pay for it here) to be sent there -VAT

I spent several minutes discussing this
apart from Arkady phoning up to order it there was no way forward
They wanted £7.95 for BFPO posting as well even though the BFPO bit is free

all done now though - smile - I am! (or is that gritted teeth?!?):bonk:

it was a long shot but you did good my friend, in away it is understandable..but i wounder if next year i may be able to use the no vat thing..emmmmmmmmmmmmm must think on that..

bits arrived (ParcelForce 07:15 !!!) from WEX today despite the "incidents" at the Post office
but then we had regular post too!

will bundle them up in desert gear and despatch in the morning
will prob90 add some magazines and coffee beans - shame not to use the full weight allowance!

...or maybe a trip to the Gaza Strip for some conflict togging!!!

Now that sounds great :D :D :D

Damn it, forgot all about this because I rarely come in to OOF :(

As I missed the donation time I'll send a fiver to the charity through work as its our charity (for for a branch of The Sun/News International)

no worries Harvey
the excess has gone there anyway!

Here's what we got folks:

the small black box in the plastic bag (just north of the batteries) is the HDF sensor brush
the batteries (well if you can't spot those why do you have a camera!!!)
the rest is the Brite Vue travel kit (SL724) for 1.0x sensors

all wrapped up with some coffee beans (to stop it rattling around in the box )

I'll also enclose a list of contributors with their messages (but no amounts)

will be at the Post Office 1st job in the morning

Many, many thanks to all those of you who contributed - rest assured this kindness and many others will be repaid next year once I figure out something suitable ...
