Hi,

Just wondered if anyone knew of some good spots for togging seals in the North West? I went across to Donna Nook last year but its a long trek so was hoping there would be somewhere on this side of the pennines?

Cheers

i see them all the time but thats when im out sailing  so probably not much help there :D

There was a young seal in the mersey earlier on in the year. Right by the Ferry Tavern !!

Not much use now I know, but interesting though.

I work with United utilities (in a way) and the work they have done to clean up the waste water that goes into the Mersey has been tremendous.
The water is the cleanest it has been for ages and there have been reports of even Salmon swimming up the Mersey.

yep because there are bloody fishermen with there lines in the water all the way along the wall that get in our way when sailing  not much happy when we just sail through them :D

I was going to joke when i wrote the thread saying apart from in the mersey! I will keep an eye out next time i am walking along there.

Just had a look at Hibre, i dont fancy judging the tides wrong and spending a night on the island! Think I may leave that till the summer :D

Thanks for the link :D

Is the walk out there very muddy/slippy or is it just sand?

It is not too bad, you can get guided trips across to the island from west kirby (run by the wirral rangers)I think that there may even be a tractor ride over in the summer time.
