I've used the video ones (modern) and the more expensive ones are pretty good

had a play with an old SIS cigarette lighter camera that shot half frame, that was cool

From a relatively sophisticated modern viewpoint, it's amazing how any of the old spy gear worked. It was so crude and bulky. I know the world was more naive back then, but I can't help thinking that when the guy was handed that, he must have thought "Вы шутите, да?"

Actually, being MfS, he probably might have thought "Sie scherzen, ja".

However, being MfS I doubt he had such thoughts, they were quite a committed bunch really.

It might come in handy in some of these shopping malls where security staff stop (I nearly said button hole) people taking pics.
Could send them some shots including one of the camera then they might begin stopping folk wearing buttons!
