Selling broken lenses

I have a broken Canon 75-300mm lens.
Does anyone know where I can sell this for parts? Or should I just chuck it out? I've already bought a replacement.

Same with broken laptops, could I seel that for parts too.
And yes, I am very clumsy person!

ebay may be the best bet, just make sure you specifically put for spares or repairs! :)
 
Agreed that ebay's the best bet but you'll need to state that it's for spares/repair clearly in the title and give a complete description in the text. I've recently been selling some old FD lenses on the 'bay and twice had to cancel completed transactions because the buyer didn't bother reading the text that described the faults.

In one case the buyer didn't even ask about it until after he'd paid and I'd dispatched the lens to Lithuania and then accused me of lying about the damage, despite it being clearly described in the auction. Finally got the lens back the other day and gave him a full refund so I'm out of pocket for the postage. :bang:

Still, I re-listed the other lens and it sold for twice as much as it went for the first time around so I can't really complain, I guess. :shrug:
 
I once sold a Minolta lens with aperture leaves that occasionally stuck. I explicitly said in BOLD RED LETTERS that the diaphragm was sticky and that it was sold as seen but it still sold for very near the price of a good lens. It wasn't returned but the buyer didn't leave feedback. I saw it being resold as working a little later. It's possible he fixed it but I doubt it.
 
I second e.bay, I sold a lens with fungus on there. I was very explicit about what elements had fungus on and the extent that I could see it had covered (and what I couldn't see so didn't know about).

For a-mount users, it was a beercan with caps, without hood, body in excellent condition and sold for £65.
