Shooting with B&W in mind.

I've been thinking that a lot of my shots from the London meets have ended up being converted to B&W (And not only because of crappy weather). So I was thinking about deliberately shooting with the intention of converting to B&W. Now, not wishing to start another row over chimping here, but does anyone ever set up their camera to shoot in B&W when shooting in RAW, knowing that they will still get the colour when they upload them? I'm thinking that this could give an instant check to see if I am along the right lines and also to give something to aim for when doing the conversion

Thoughts?

There is an article with this exact suggestion in one of the camera mags this month (DCM i believe). It says to shoot in RAW but with the camera set to B&W so you see a preview of the image on screen and of course colour data is preserved in the RAW file.

Something i'll be trying as the weather has been very poor of late!

I shoot a lot with black and white in mind, but much of the time shoot it in colour to convert later. I'm a fan of b&w taken through coloured filters, only I don't have any. Desaurating in post processing gives me chance to get the same effect without pricey glass.
