After picking a few Nikon film cameras up lately...I have ended up with the collecting bug ....
Can we see some pics of the various models people have and use on here :)

Nikon is a richer man's playground as the lenses go for silly prices....I have the EM and N2000 but only have the 50mm lens between them..........there'll stay in the cupboard until I can get a Tamron adapter at a non stupid price.

Richer Man's playground ? - I have Nikon but im not rich:shrug:
What I do is save for the Nikon product I want and then buy it when I can afford.

Nikon does cost more, but then when you are getting quality and proven reliability, you dont mind paying for it.

'If I were a rich man'

The least 35mm camera I use is also my best camera, a Canon T90.....I just don't want to put it in my back pack cycling or take to a sandy beach or dodgy area where thieves might be around...same for expensive Nikon bodies, so if you agree with my view, it comes down to lenses...why spend £100 on say a Nikon 24mm f2.8 when you can get a Canon FD or Sigma a lot cheaper? and what's more important can you see the difference on a computer screen or say 8X10"/A4 print.

Unfortunately I don't have these anymore, but I'll share them anyway. :)

Please guys, let's not turn this into another Canon vs Nikon discussion. ;)

It's not, it's Nikon owners (much more sensible) vs Canon owners (much more silly) thread. :D

I jest. Gotta jump on a train soon, but I'll post pics of my Nikon stuffs when I get back. Been meaning to do it for a while actually, so I have pics of all the serial numbers for the insurance company.

the FM 2 looks a great pice of kit..maybe the next one I purches when funds allow..Nikon just sean to go on forever and ever

I was going to show some Nikkormats but my wife has gone off with the digital camera. Irony or schadenfreude? Anyway, I'm not sure Nikon is that expensive, my Nikkormats cost between fifteen quid for a working but cosmetically worn FTN with two lenses (one Nikon) to fifty pounds for an as-new early numbered original FT body.

'Mats were built to similar standards as the F and F2 - probably the highest durability era ever with all cameras individually tested in use - without the interchangability of heads, screens and backs of the pro models. Wide aperture pre-AI lenses attract a premium but regular lenses are reasonable. 50mm F2 standards go from about a tenner upwards. Please don't all rush at once because I haven't finished buying.
Nikkors lenses are great but my favourite wide angle is a Sigma 28mm 1.8 aspherical and they don't go for anything like same price.

Its a shame modern cameras just dont have the build quality the old ones did....I wonder how many digital cameras will still be working in 15 or 20 years time ?
well heres my F3hp and motordrive

Nice camera Knighhawk. You clearly have an eye for a bargain, any tips?

LOL ...Haggle like mad when dealing with shops..the markup they put on them is horrendous so they can afford to take a drop in the price :)

Do you buy from local camera shops? The big specialist dealers seem to hang onto stock rather than let them go cheap. I use eBay but as ever, it's hard to tell the diamonds from the dog-poo.

I just ring around the shops on the net if I see something I like and try my luck....but I no what you are saying with ebay and I allways try to collect in persone when buying of there

Hurrah!
At last - Someone who 'gets' it...(y)

My F5 and 35mm f/2 Nikkor...
The scuff on the pentaprism above the 'N' was the result of clumsy packing - it went into the Billingham next to my other F5 and they both rubbed...

**Canon fanboys (and girls) are the ones with more money than sense these days.**

LOL Now lets not bring "digital" into the thread.

I am realt tempted to get an F5...When funds allow hehehe...I have to slow down spending

I'm tempted to go the other way - get another F3 or two...

I used to love those, was my second 'proper' film camera, and virtually indestructable. (My first was an Olympus OM-1, purchased second hand. I loved that too)

Whilst I had the F3 I went for a more modern film camera, the F90, which I had tweaked so you could wind back a roll of film part way through and it wouldn't eat the leader so you could reload it later. My God, those who have only ever known digital don't know how easy they have it :LOL::LOL:

Then I got a film Blad, and that was that. Everything else was '****' :D

I'm pretty sure one of the custom-settings on the F5 allows me to do this - I think I even have it set up that way...lol

That pic of the FM2n and MD12 has just triggered all my nostalgia sensors !!!!!
Might go a'shoppin this next week (y)

LOL...i will be parting with one of mine soon i dont need 2..but the seller would not split them

Nikon F4s

It'll only take a couple of minutes to run a roll through on Ch... half hour more to soup the BnW's and you could have something online by 18:00.... tick-tock

I am jealous ...

Unless they are absolutely mint Nikkormats go for buttons, and long may it continue. I want a couple more as donor bodies in case one goes pop but they suit me and my thumb powered photography.
In the US clean examples are beginning to go for proper money and at some point supply will dry up but touch wood, right now they go for beer money which is extraordinary for such well built cameras.

Did you have 3?
I'm asking because I bought one from you this week. :)

I've got a Nikkormat FTN and an F5, I've sold all the other Nikons that were in my Dads collection.
lets see some pics....I have been fancying a F5 the look the business

I'm afraid that my little F301 will get lost amongst these big boys but here it is anyway.

I have got a bid in at the mo on an F90 so this may well be updated by monday. :naughty:

Cheers

Andy
