hi , ive got a nikon d70 and the longest shutter speed is 30 s apart from the bulb feature.
what i would like to know is if i bought a remote for the d70 ,when in bulb mode will the shutter stay open if i keep the remote button pressed in,and shut when i let go !. to gain a longer shutter speed .
or is it one press one operation ?

hope this makes sense to someone .
cheers kev

Kev if you get one of the infa red remotes, the first press of the remote opens the shutter and second closes it which is handy when doing long exposures. I think 15 mins is the longest I have done but could be as long as you want.

IIRC the D70 has a cut-off of 30 minutes, but if it's as bad as a D80 at long exposures you won't want to be doing that......;)

The Nikon one is a good basic remote release.

For long exposures you might want to consider shorter, stacked exposures. For that you'll either need to use a stopwatch and sit around with the timer, or go for a 3rd party option like the zigview.
