hi is there different versions of the sigma 10-20 and if so which is the best. been looking at buying and trying a 10-20 DC HSM .
all help welcome

The Sigma 10-20mm 4-5.6 EX DC HSM is the model that has been around for a while and exists on about 5 different lens mounts (Canon EF-S, Nikon, Olympus 4/3 and Sony Alpha).

I do think they recently announced another version of the 10-20mm which is the same, but is a stop, or half-stop faster.

Hi there,

There is the 10-20 f4-5.6 available at the moment, and Sigma is releasing an f3.5 version next month. It's RRP is around £650 though - compared to £350ish for the current model.

I guess the f3.5 would be better if you needed it, otherwise I'm sure the standard one would be just fine. They are a fun lens and are great for some creative photography (except when I got closer to the dog than it apperared in the viewfinder and gave myself a cut eye:D )

I have the F4-5.6 on Canon. Love it, just never use it (work owns me) LOL. When I have enough posts, it will be up on the classified page here on TP.

It is a great lens, and its very versatile, not just for landscapes how many people use it.

Somebody was selling a Tokina 12-24 for less than £300 in the for sale section which I'd be very tempted by if your looking to go wide??? :)

I recently bought a 10-20 Nikon fit from an uncle-in-law (does such a relationship even exist?) and it is superb. So much fun, mine rarely leaves the camera now.

Good lens but I'd highly recommend adding a bit more and getting the Canon 10-22. I've had both and if I could start again I'd go straight for the 10-22.

Have you got any comparison shots that show that the Canon is worth the extra £200 over the cost of the Sigma ?

I read so much about OEM vs 3rd party lenses it would be nice to see some "real world" examples :)

I'll echo Kryptix's comment. IMO Sigmas are real hit & miss affairs though gambled recently on a 30mm 1.4f and got lucky. love my 10-22mm!

I don't. There's a few floating about which show pretty much no difference, but for me, it was enough to justify it. I sold my 10-20 for £300 and bought my 10-22 for about £420 so it's not really £200. In fact, a 10-22 (in immaculate condition) went for £390 on AVForums the other day.

well I have ended up with two Dont ask :bonk:,
and I am very pleased with them cant belive how wide they are also when out looking for some kingfishers today I stuck it on my 1dMK2 for some landscape shots and it seemed to work well on there as well.

I have this lens, not used it too much (indoor retail job and a wedding) and can vouch for the quality.
