I have purchased this lens off a reliable seller on EBAY for £30. I understood fully that it may not work on my DSLR (and it doesnt only at f2.8!) however, it seems to work ok on my EOS 5 but there are a couple of niggles...

1 the AF is very noisy
2 when i switch off the EOS 5 it makes a weird clicky noise and did the same when i connected it

Is this normal, have you used it and know the answer?!?!

Otherwise I am quite happy with it just want to know before I leave feedback!

Only used the MF version. Bought another last year, but Fungus the Bogeyman had got to it first. They're too old and past it for me to want to try another. Many old lenses are very well made, but that wasn't the case for Sigmas of that era.

Great lens - the AF is a bit on the noisy side, thats normal.

Lovely lens, super sharp with great colours and super close focusing makes the AF noise worth while :)

PS: I'm talking about the Minolta fit version.

I think it is going to be just fine! I shall grab some film and get out with it asap and then we might see some results! Thanks for the comments!

I thought £30 was a bargain too!

Just an update on this! I have had to raise a dispute through paypal for this as this lens is faulty! It makes a fluttering sound everytime the lens is connected to a camera and when the shuterr button is pressed and the camera is turned off. According to Sigma it is the interuppter and will cost £60-80 to repair, not really worth it on an a £30 lens.

Anyhow, valuable lesson! When buying a lens on EBAY look to see if the seller has bought it recently - this is a good guide to the condition of the lens. Did not realise my seller had bought it 1 week ago...
