Sigma 70-300mm APO test: garden bird

I have recently bought the APO, whereas I have the DG before.
I have to say, am very impressed with the sharpness compared to the DG.
Below are 2 shots from the garden taken yesterday, massive ISO as it was in the shade of the trees and the second one has a large crop.
Othe than that they are just resized for the web, no sharpening or any other pp.

You did pretty well hand holding it, I guess you could go even a bit lower with a monopod (tripod's too bulky if you need to move around).
I have this lens on my D50 and it's been pretty good so far, samples are here:

You can add some of your shots there if you feel like it.

Thanks(y) When you need to look upwards a monopod isnt much good me thinks.. I use a monopod regularly as I think im cloned Shaky Stevens:LOL:
I really do struggle to keep the cam still while shooting. (I think thats something else that I can blame on the homemade apple wine :nuts:)
 
I find that a monopod doesn't help much as the birds 'twitch' more than I shake :)
