Sigma DP Merrils Price Drop

Yeah I did use the clone tool in capture nx but thought it would show in both edits if that were the case

yeah it's okay, lovely and bright and I like the compensation marks for when you are close to subject, makes it really easy to compose a close up.

I am trying to think if I will actually use it though :banghead: :help:, but for the price paid it certainly won't be going on my 'bad purchase' list.

Did you buy it new? if so from where? I have one saved in my Amazon wish list but if I can find one cheaper then so much the better.

The DP3 arrived this morning and I have have just taken some images with it out in the garden, fcuk me! this thing picks out detail that I can't see even with my glasses on  lookong forward to getting the DP2 from Adrian later this week.

cheapo battery arrived today, its a slightly tighter fit, weighs the same as the sigma battery and im just doing a top up charge too

congrats Tim..pretty sharp isnt it! lol

Considering that I have used it as a fully auto point and shoot (I have not set anything up yet) I'm amazed in all honesty, captures detail like nothing else I've seen.

think you could breakout a soft focus filter, or the airbroom instead of airbrush :)

oh i think you might be able to get away with outputting x2 size from spp if you add some extra sharpness :o
with my dp1s and no extra sharpness it looks ok at double size but 100% zoom, its not great, but passable

oh my generic battery has done 80+shots on a timelapse now :O 15sec interval, room temp, raw photos and the screen is on too...

passed 100 shots and 2 out of 3 bars left on battery, set it going on another 99 pics xD
itll be a dull timelapse for sure xD

I doubt you will get that out and about with camera,be very surprised if you do.

true, i did get 60 shots from a sigma battery that had some use before, and in the cold a couple of nights ago, timelapse with screen off
so im thinking for 5.25 delivered this battery is good enough, even if its abit short of a sigma one, but im not sure its any worse tbh :)

think it managed 200shots, the camera was pretty hot too so letting it cool down now xD

See yet another plus side..in witer they act as a pocket warmer as well!:naughty:

When you say a slightly tighter fit, how tight? And thanks for the link and the mini test.

very slight, doesnt slide in and out as easily, and fills the hole a touch more, its probably just down to slightly thicker molding or thicker wrapper on it, its very slight :) its not a "ah how am i going to get this out", its just a tiny smidge bigger, and the orignal battery is fairly loose in mine anyways :)

Cheers mate..he is a stunning dog as is my other one but she is a bit camera shy lol.

the sigma battery managed 170 shots, probably longer exposures, and it might not have been quite fully charged, so yeah, pretty happy with my cheapo battery :D

tis my bday cake for tomorrow lovingly made by the missus, chocco section just for me as wife n kids have given it up for lent

Their part of the cake looks pretty good too!

I went to a talk given by Rowan Williams last night (ex Arch-Bishop of Canterbury), and there were chocolate cakes and biscuits as refreshments at the end which I noticed he enjoyed, so it's clearly not compulsory to give up chocolate for lent! :)
