Sigma Front Focus - How much to fix?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows how much Sigma charge to fix a front focus?

Ive just bought a 70-200 f2.8 and having some trouble with it on my 5D, its front focusing.

Ive looked through http://www.sigma-imaging-uk.com/support/tarrifs.pdf but cant make 100% sense of it...

It will either cost £37.99 or £131 to fix!!

Has anyone done sent their lens to Sigma recently for a focus adjust who could tell me what they charged?

On the + side, this lens is seriously sharp wide open! Take a look at this manual focus shot - aimed on the Mercedes badge on the wheel. F2.8 135mm zoom

Can you use micro adjust on your Canon?

5D classic mate, no MA

Looking at the AF shot, it's back focusing, as Mick says, try MA.

It will probably be the £131 option as sigma have had my 70-200 for two months now for the same problem. (Mines NIKON fit)

Ive been quoted £74.99 for the following to be done,

REPLACE CIRCUIT
ADJUST CIRCUIT
CHECK OPTIC
RESET, CHECK & TEST

its away in Japan at the moment as the UK as its the original 70-200 2.8 the circuit needs to be custom made.

It'll probably be the 131 figure. They generally only charge less if its a small job like retightening the rear element

Mine has come under repair tariff 4 £74.99 and that doesn't mention 70-200's and ive got that in writing from Sigma, so id get in touch with them and see what they say, although they may not quote until they see your lens.

incidentally nick, did you buy it new? if so they should do it under warrenty. if 2nd hand, a big stick waved at the seller lol

Any idea where that stands me in terms of getting a refund?

Advert stated it was perfect, which maybe it was on his camera!

If i may suggest something it would be to send your body off with the lens for calibration. I sent mine to them and it came back the same when i upgrade to full frame from 50d and microadjust! so had to send it off again with my 1ds the second time. It was a lot better when it came back, still not 100% satisfied with it though, but then that could be me just being picky!
