could someone please explain why when u take a thirty second exposure why my canon 450D takes atleast 30secs in "busy" mode saving the pict, same as if i were to take a 5min exposure it takes another 5mins in 'Busy' mode. surely it doesnt take that long to save a 2megabyte file to the card?

You have noise reduction set to on! So it does an equal exposure of black, to remove hot pixels etc :)

at the moment its a sandisk ultra II, but surely thats not all to blame! if i take split second shot, the camera is ready straight away, whereas the longer the exposure the longer the wait in busy mode!

act the exact amount i paid was 34...i just rounded it to 35! but could do with a new card. ordered it off ebay...from hong kong! lol

I noticed the same thing on my Nikon D40, taking long exposure shots at night (trying, unsuccessfully to get that star trail effect). I couldn't work out why the camera would be taking a larger shot (and thus require more processing time) just because the shutter was open longer.

Was months before a friend explained I had to turn off NR!
