Soccer Question

Hi all,

I got dragged kicking and screaming to a Welsh Premier League soccer match between Aberystwyth and Port Talbot this evening. I agreed to go 'cos it would be a good test for the 7D... especially under floodlights! Before my mate Steff comes on here and tells everyone, I'll admit that I did find it entertaining (I'm a rugby fan)! :D

Now I know about Dataco's frankly stupid rule about images being shown from the English and Scottish leagues but there's nothing on their website about the Football Association of Wales to say I can't use images as I see fit. I also had a mooch about on the FAW site and couldn't find anything there either.

Please can anyone clarify the situation before I post any shots from this evening's game?

Thanks in advance,
Si

You may get more responses if you change the word soccer to football

You may be right... I'm a rugby fun and that's proper football! ;)

Last night's match was the first soccer/footie match I'd been to since I was a kid.

Cheers,
Si

Maybe you can publish Welsh Premier League as it's not considered good enough to be worth protecting

Seriously though - did you ever find out the answer?

Hi Robin,

No, I didn't get anything useful. I couldn't find anything relevant on the Dataco or FAW websites so I guess it must be ok. It's not something I'm going to do on a regular basis though, (football bores the pants off me and I end up getting really narked at the actresses who play it) so I'm not too worried about it. :)

Cheers,
Si

I'm more of a rugby fan but they way England are playing at the moment I may switch to watching Chess instead - got to be more exciting !!

This is very true... I'm still shaking my head at Saturday's performance. At least we've managed to beat the Welsh and managed to keep all of our players out of police stations! Methinks the Welsh have a discipline problem at the mo! Shame really 'cos it drags the whole sport down.

(As you might have guessed, I prefer rugby too) :D

See ya,
Si

Hope you said hi to Thomsky.

I don't think there are any issues at all with Welsh Premier League images - I've certainly never heard of any, or been prevented taking pictures/asked to remove them from websites.

As far as I'm aware, there are no issues with FAW matches...i've had some up online for years with no problems.

In fact, they welcome the publicity I think.

DataCo are responsible for English and Scottish Leagues but not Welsh

Who's Thomsky? :)

If he's the Port Talbot goalkeeper, someone should put him up for an Oscar... I've seen some real primadonnas over the years but this guy made Olivier look like a bit-part actor!

He fell to his knees at one point during the match and grabbed his head... There was nobody anywhere near him and the medics were pampering him within seconds. Apparently, someone lobbed a 50p at him but given the distance from the crowd to the keeper, they'd have had to be a bloody good shot and the coin would have had to weigh as much as a housebrick for all the drama he was displaying! :shake:

I must admit to getting slightly involved in the action and I can now appreciate how difficult it is for the pros to shoot a match. My 70-200mm f2.8 did well but I could have done with something longer and wider at the same time! :D

Thanks to everyone for all the help,
Best wishes,
Si
