HI one and all, happy new year
got a new 550d,trying to load soft ware when i take picture Photo elements 8 want recognise it but picasa will so I've got the image .Ive tried the 6.1 plugin from adobe still no luck. looking at their forums I think that alot of other guys get the same problem.Someone else has suggested not to use photoshop just use canon's own but I have got elements 8 for £80 before I changed my camera I don't understand if its not a new model what's everyone else been doing or what am I doing wrong?
Anybody else got any ideas I can try, and if not thanks for looking anyway

Are they RAW files that you are trying to open with Elements 8? There is a possibility that Elements 8 will not support your camera if it is a fairly new model. You can get a list of supported cameras from the Adobe website. Elements 8 should open JPEG files regardless of which camera they came from. You can download a DNG converter to process your RAW files if it is these you have problems with..

Seriously, I recommend Canon's software for doing your RAW conversions, there are camps of opinion (aren't there always) but many people reckon it's the best RAW processor available for Canon files.

Having never used it I'm not sure, do you get Bridge with elements?
If not is there even an easy option for batch processing RAW's in Elements?

Elements will still be useful for manipulating your files once converted.
