Whilst in amongst all the menus on the 400D I found an area that said sometihng about a software upgrade. Cna any if you gurus out there enlighten me?

Thanks
Matt

You need to scroll through the menus till you see 'Firmware' which will tell you what firmware number is installed in the camera. Then Google for 'Canon 400D Firmware Upgrades' to see if there's a later version you can download.

Yeah just did that and 1.1.1 seems the newest one and all it adds is Polish language and lens infomation.

ALthough when I read out what it said to my dad, I said it says 'polish' as in the stuff you use to make things shiny  :coat:

LOL.
Well it depends on your viewpoint. Sometimes they publish upgrades and tell you exactly what they are, but there's a school of thought that says hidden in there sometimes are fixes they're too embarrassed to mention. I tend to do all the upgrades anyway, but if your camera is working fine you can ignore it if you like.

If you do decide to go ahead make sure the camera is connected to mains power or has a fully charged battery. If the power fails mid upgrade it usually means the camera is a paper weight till Canon sort it out.

Ah, I think I may give it a whirl one day.

Thank you CT :D
