Full day gardening as it was so great but couldn't resist a bit of macro -I am a novice! Anyone know what this is? Hornet?? Welcome C&C. Thanks in advance.

I don't know what it is, but it looks like it could give you a nasty sting! Not sure it's big enough for a hornet though? Nice shot, anyway.

Yep, the little blighter just wouldn't come round my side! Wasp? Hope getting pollen on my camera and lens won't turn out to be too detrimental! Thanks for commenting.
 
Nice image- could have been improved slightly in my opinion, by moving your point of view to the right, avoiding the petals covering the subject and getting a clear shot

Thanks Les. I need to learn patience and to take more time to get the right shot. In this instance a move to the right and I would have blocked the sun. Keeping the focus on this kind of shot is pretty tricky too as I was really close but DOF was very narrow. Appreciate your comments, thanks.
