Yes
In order to have a remote shutter release, the Sony A380 does not have a connection for the remote cord shutter release contrary to other models of Alpha. According to some book I read that in order to have a shutter release you can use the standard Sony Alpha DSLR1 Remote. This is the same that get used for with TVs and other display units.

Although it works perfectly for immediate release and a 2 second delay, if need be for more wait time, have any one figured out a way to do so especially for still tripod shots.

Thanks for the response, reading about it, this product offers the same thing like the model from sony. Shutter Release and 2s. But using it for Bulb takes does it work, what about releases beyond two seconds.

I think you are probably confused?

The 2s thing is a delay to reduce mirror slap, not the maximum exposure length you can use.

I am using now the DSLR1 remote from Sony, if I get this one will act exactly the same like this remote control, or will it allow me to basically hold and release at will like I am given to understand with the remote cord. I am new to this, so I am sure that things are a bit confused in relation to my know how.

I don't have your camera, but I imagine that you'll press the shutter / remote once to start the shot, then another press to cancel it in bulb mode.

At least thats how I'd expect it to work!

Exactly, that's how it should work if you are using the cord, but unfortunately tried it with this version but it did not work the minute I press it depending on the camera setting it releases the shot.

The Sony 550 although have similar functionality like the A380 but it has a socket for the cord. What is also strange is that the 350 has it too, The A380 was suppose to be an upgrade or a higher model on the A350, but they missed this feature, maybe they thought at this level the user might not need it.
