Sony A700 Quicky Question

Bracket if you want to bracket - don't really understand the question, there is no setting you "should" use, it depends on what you are doing.

Sharpening is changed in the creative style menu on the main display, select the style you want (standard, portrait, adobe RGB etc) and adjust the various parameters for that style from there. I'm not sure that they all allow the in camera sharpening to be changed.

Cheers for the advice. The reason why I ask is that since I've had my a700 it's been set using bracket single 0.3ev which I presume is wrong if I want to shoot single photos and not bracket, this might be why my exposures are wrong.

Also found the sharpening thing cheers doesn't seem to be that sharp with kit lens.

If the kit lens is the 18-70 it isn't that sharp. The 18-55 is apparently better.

If it is set to bracketing then you will get three shots if you keep the shutter depressed long enough. One of them should be the correct exposure (I think it's the second one), one will be underexposed and one over exposed.

There isn't a "bracket single" option? From memory (camera at home) the options are single shot, continuous advance (fast or slow), bulb, remote triggered and a variety of bracketing options which will take either three or five shots, at different exposure compensation values. If you select one of the bracket options it will only take all the shots (3 or 5) if you keep the shutter depressed until it finishes, else it will stop when the shutter is released.

A good APS-C replacement for the kit lens is the Sony ZA 16-80. At least I like it. Others like the Tamron 17-50/2.8, haven't tried that one.

There is a "Sony alpha users" topic in Talk eqpuiment which more people are likely to see.
