Sony camera ads shot with Canon

To be fair, it would have been really anal to only approach photographers who use your own gear to do jobs for you.

Yes but are Sony just admitting that they don't have a body up to the job?

so when sony approach a pro design agency for the ads to be created they are supposed to specify that they only want the photographers to use their equipment?

Does it really matter?

The agency would have come up with a design and found a photographer that match the concept they were looking to complete.

Should all bmw staff only drive bmw's?
All mc donalds workers only ever eat burgers and chips.

I dont think anyone really gives a monkeys tbh, im willing to be most people on the street wouldnt know what exif data was, and secondly would just say 'who cares'

Leaving EXIF data in marketing shots is just stupid. Even if it was their own camera.

A company here had their canteen web pages updated. What people wanted was an up to date menu. What they got was truckloads of new images. EXIF data was riddled with Phase One P65+ and P45+ backs which sparked some discussion on the canteen prices and why is the freezer still so bad that the ice cream keeps melting and refreezing :)

approach anyone in the street and say
'did you know the new sony ads were photographed using a canon!'

Im pretty confident that most people couldnt care less.

It's news for photography blogs and people that like to gossip about unimportant information.

If i was sony i would be more concerned with wether the ad targets the audience correctly and if the ad was value for money etc.
