Yes
Hey guys,

If I have a few light specs in the view finder, is there anything I can do?

It doesn't seem to he effecting the images so will this be sensor dust or not?

Thanks.

Just dust on the focusing screen/mirror and won't show on the image

Got a few specks on mine and just got used to them

I'd leave them alone, you'll probably end up putting more dust in there if you use blowers etc to try to shift it.

Don't worry about it.

I have the same problem on my D300s.. it was annoying at first but now I know it has no effect on my images I have forgotton about it and very rarely notice it now days. I gave it a good blow with a rocket blower to no result. Sorry buddy but you may just have to live with it. You could always take it to a shop and see if they could possible do a full clean and sort it? But I'm not sure.. unless someone else has fixed it?

How much would it cost?

Also, if I were to get it cleaned, can you prevent it happening again or will it always happen?

If the specks are on the outside of the focus screen a blow with a rocket or a tickle with a soft clean brush might shift them. Personally I hate this. I'd much rather have a dirts sensor as I can clean that in two minutes.

I did send my 20D off to be cleaned for specks in the optics but I forget how much it cost, and yes, once clean it'll probably happen again.

Dunno, I've only ever done it myself.

The only way to prevent it happening is to leave your camera in its bag and never use it. Unfortunately, dust on the veiwfinder is a fact of life.

I'll only clean mine again if/when I sell the camera.
