Spider Pro Holster

I use the pro (metal) version. I have the single belt and a couple additional holsters which are on different bags. I usually use it on a think tank speed racer waist bag. I also use Carry Speed straps and their "folding plate." The plate is Arca Swiss with a Carry Speed/Spider compatible pin that folds out of the way. I don't really like any of Spider's Arca swiss solutions, or even their standard plate really for portrait use on gripped type body.

The way I have it set up I can go from holster to tripod to strap with very little fuss.

Great thanks for the info, I was looking at their arca clamp but will also check out that carry speed option.

How do you find the weight distribution after carrying it for a while?

I purchased one of the knock off spider holsters earlier this year. Terrifyingly the first broke. The back of the holster belt is held together with a single plastic O ring which was quite flimsy. The newer ones are supposed to be stronger.

Anyway....regardless of whether you go with the original or the knockoff, one of the biggest issues I found after shooting with the Black Rapid's for a couple of years is speed. Switching between cameras on a BR strap is quick, easy. Grab the camera you want and go!

With the holster you have to line up the camera you have in your hands with the slot, insert it, let it come to rest. Next grab the other, twist it and pull it up. And if you have the safety lock on (which only the original spider let's you disable) then it's a lot slower.

Personally I went back to the BR strap since I found swapping meant I missed moments that I would have otherwise caught. That said I don't get back pain as a result of weddings. If I did then I may reconsider.

I used one for ages, same as Steven with a couple of pouches/lens carriers attached. I'd highly recommend them, they are really comfortable to use and you can replace just the belt once it becomes tired without the cost of buying an entire new one.

I should probably add that when using two cameras one's on a CarrySpeed strap and the other in the holster... I have used one in the waist bag and one in the holster but I prefer to have the "primary camera" in hand and on a strap. The CarrySpeed/Spider compatibility makes it quick to swap out the primary camera if wanted.
