The great thing about those old Fords is that you can "pick & mix" the running gear on them. I had a 1300GT Escourt, that had a 1600GT lump from a Capri, with Powermax pistons & rings, but the original 1300 head to up the compression with larger vales. It also had a gearbox form a 2000E Mk3 Cortina. It also had the diff from an Escort Mexico.
Oh my, it was quick off the line, up to about 70 where most other fast cars would take it. `it was always good for the traffic light GP though
