Spy Camera Pens

Not a camera pen, but I've a camera key ring. It looks like a car fob.

Records video and photos at 1080p res. Its ok in the day but useless at night. Battery lasts about an hour and can only record for 30 mins before video auto ends and you have to restart. Shows time and date on images too.

For £9 it was decent but should really only be used as a rough and ready recorder.

I can't imagine that a camera in a pen would provide anything the key fob doesn't so unless for a fun little gimmick I am not sure it would be worth it.

I have seen the keychain 808 onegetting used on trackdays. I read up a bit a while back, there are a few different companies/versions as I recall and some are better than others.

yeah there are different versions you can get and you can only tell which one it is by the colour of the date and time, even then it isn't 100%.

I use mine just for driving trips after a friend got their car hit then they claimed he hit them. turned in to a 50/50 :(

Just leave it attached to the PC with a 4-8gb microSD card in and it is great for trips to and from work. But it can struggle in certain lighting conditions and night time. Just attach it to the dash with a little blob of blue tac.

Might be worth checking dealextreme.com. They have reviews with users videos posted.

I have one someone gave me but I can't figure out how to chage the thing (no instructions) it had some video on it when I got it, picture quality was ok-ish but the sound was poor.

I quite like the 46kam bullet cams for on bike/in car footage. Can also use them on push bikes and crash helemts too. Not much good for covert spying though......

it should just have a microUSB connector somewhere on it or inside that should charge it.

Yup, I've something similar, about the size of a big thick thumb.

How simple can it be, plug it into a USB phone charger or the PC

at £8 poor sound, !, at 6' the sound is good

I have used and have pens, watches, cigarette lighters, MP3 players and key fobs, and never go to an interview! without one.

On one occasion I got a full written apology and £100 from the job centre for accusing me of something that I had never done, until I sent the DVD! showing THEIR staff to be completely at fault.

Have a look at THESE. Must be something there to suit!

It doesn't seem to charge off the usb, I tried that, left it on for hours.

Some usb cables don't work I have found it better to simply use a USB plug charger that comes with a camera/phone/gadget as long as it fits, they are all the same voltage.

You do realise that on private property you have to inform the person that you are recording the conversation?

It's nice to have the recording but as far as I am aware, unless they are informed you could never use it in any legal means.

FYI the DSS ALLOW recordings to take place, however, even covertly you/they have no argument, whilst it is not admisaable as evidence in court, anyone can do as I did and send it to the Director of the DSS, MP, newspaper and more, who needs court and that IS legal.

A full DVD clearly showing a member of staff giving false information, complaining about the lack of staff training and them making errors is enough to not worry about court. Also remember, when as I am, a single parent, interviewed every 12 weeks, when they update your records on the computer ALL previous records of the interviews prior are wiped, unless you remember to ask for a printout of the interview if a year or more TWO years in my case, you need them, tough, 14 years in the C Service, and I keep all records. Telephone, meetings and more and they have paid dividends that are worth their weight in gold.

Also they used your flawed argumant when sending me their guidence, and as I stated there are NO signs in the DSS stating photography, recordings etc are not allowed.

I also have a letter from the Director stating that whilst they were unhappy (You better believe it hence the compensation) anyone can record, however they prefer you not to in the "open" areas, as I was in a private room, there you go.

Another thing that really gets my back up are teachers who say "you can't photograph little Sids Christmas play or record it" It's the people with spy pen cams etc they need to worry about not us with DSLR's and Vids, remember that when people here have a teacher complainging next time.

I thought that was the case as well.... Unless they are informed or aware then it can't be used

I'm debating on the car camera for £29 - should be ideal for the truck with the "richard heads" that seem to cut everyone up because they need/want to be in the outside lane as soon as they get on the motorway....

Yeh, one of my pet hates too!
I just use my mobile phone, it has a 32gb MSD card so can get quite a few hours of vid so set it to record when I put it in the holder that I have modified slightly.
Glad someone finds the link usefull because there's 'not much choice there'

Was thinking of doing the same thing - but we'reoff to the states in November so may even use it for there when we cruise the highway in a convertible mustang

Then again a phone & a satnav aint exactly the best things to have attached to the windscreen :$

Well I went a head an ordered it.... Had a wee play around the house (thanks to 7dayshop only half the order turned up as dont have the mount nor leads - hopefully tomorrow they will arrive..) But on the play around with it it does the trick altho it does pick up the sound of when you hold it and move your fingers - hence will no mount yet but will give it another go when that arrives...

Cheers thou Baz for that link - a few at truckers @ work are interested in this as well

I wouldn't worry, I have shopped with 7dayshop for ten plus years, and never once been let down if they say they are out of stock it is genuine and they never keep people waiting.

Easiest way to mount small cameras as I do is here

No problem Bud! Glad to be of help. I'm sure the other stuff will turn up, never had any problems with 7day, ask for help and they give it.

Would be interesting to see some video footage from the cameras you use, day and night.

The cheap £8 one I have is ok in the day, not great on seeing number plates etc though. At night, its just too noisy!

Mate has some videos on youtube i'll look for link for!
