Ok so I had to buy an external ssd for my mbp as the onboard 256gb was full.

I’ve bought a 500gb Samsung T5 and moved my raw images over to this.

When I open my library in lightroom the files show previews but can’t be found.
Meaning I have to manually go into the drive find the folder and file for that whole folder to be found again.
The way my raw images are filed is by date so I may only have a few images per day in a folder so this can be very time consuming if I’m flicking through my library.

The question is.. is there a way to set this up so that the files can be found by lightroom?
Or is there a specific way I should use it?

I know I’m likely not using the library on lightroom property either, it’s just the one library for over 2/3 year’s [emoji849]

As I understand it you have to move the files within LR otherwise it does not know where they are.

IIRC there should be a check box that tells the software to find all missing files when you locate 1.

Really you should have used Lightroom’s own database to move the files over, but as @ancient_mariner says, there is a check-box (somewhere) which instructs LR to go and seek out the missing files.
