Stop a user accessing the Internet - XP Pro.

Is there any way to stop a user (not the Administrator) on a computer accessing the Internet - preferably by turning of the LAN connection from within an account.

you can go to..

gpedit.msc and then to users -> admin -> network

may be settings in there... or you can run a login script to disable the network card and set user policy so thye can't enable it again...

Or if they are not computer savvy - just put in a fake proxy server details to Tools>Internet Options>Connection>LAN Settings if it is just for kids...
Edit: This just works for disabling Internet Explorer. If you need to block MSN etc then use Andy's suggestion above.

I use k9 web protection on my kids pc. It may be possible to restrict all internet access

Easiest way is via the router.

Depending on if it's a user's machine and noone else uses it, just deny them access from the router, they will need a static IP address
