Strapped

I've just bought a Nikon 28-70 f2.8 lens. Its in lovely condition and came with the nice leather-style round case but minus the carry straps that you attach to the case. Is it possible to buy these straps?

PS. Whilst I'm on the subject of Nikon straps, time for a mini-rant. I can work my way through Nikon's sub menus and sub-sub menus on any of their cameras but the straps they supply to attach to your camera (or to the lens cases) always give me grief. Once they're fitted, you could swing from them but they're a b*****d to attach in the first place.

Not sure if you can still buy them,....... but the Strap (nylon) is nothing special, just a constant 18mm wide and just under a Mtr long with no markings or Name.

It does have 2 metal adjusting buckles with Nikon stamped on them though.

I've got a couple of the barrel cases for other lenses and it was one of those I was attaching the strap to earlier. (Whilst swearing a lot)

Just thought it'd be nice to find a genuine Nikon strap for the 28-70's case but it's not a real problem. I may have a word with the bods on the Nikon stand at Focus.

Actually, if I were to buy the the Matin Neoprene lens pouch that you mentioned on TP, the fact that the leather case hasn't got a strap woundn't matter as the lens can sit on my desk here when not in use and be stored in the Matin when I'm out and about. Was the model 200 big enough?

I've had a brief play with the 28-70 and it seems fantastic but I'm hoping to get out tomorrow to try it properly. I've got an event to shoot on Thursday and then my motor sport season starts in the next fortnight so it'll get plenty of use then.

The 28-70 case is really impractical anyhow, you wouldn't want to carry it around like that, the case is a like a big black plant pot on steroids
