Stupid Question

Hi all.

Need to ask a stupid question; all help appreciated.

I see a lot of posts for people asking for a 100% crop of a picture.

Can someone tell me in basic/simple terms (easy for me to understand, assume I am not very clever!!) what this means please?

It's not really the best term but we all understand it (well once taught LOL).

Basically you zoom in to 100% (one pixel of the photo to one pixel on screen) then crop to say 800 x 600 of the pixels and save. This allows those of us who like to pixel peep to see focus, camera shake or general sharpness problems etc.

It's a small part of an image viewed at 100% so that any issues with the lens can be seen. When you resize an image down, you'll lose some of the fine detail as pixels are removed by whatever image software you're using.

Edit: I really must type faster!

Ok thanks, understand now.

The whole cropping thing gets me pretty confused.

if you open the image in [i have Elements 7] there is a tab at the top toolbar which is 1:1 which you then crop to say 800x600 and post
