Been looking for a zoom that will be more useful in low light - like at concerts as the lights dims.

I know the old 'drainpipe' is very old now, but reviews seem to suggest that, optically, it still holds up against lenses produced today.

But no IS. And a lot of them of ebay seem to have fungus.

Even for a good example, am I wasting money. Could I get something which is a similar price (i.e. <£400) which would be better suited?

All I'm going to say is check out the standard 200mm 2.8L. I have that and love it - its super compact, really sharp - no IS but its tiny. I bought one off here for about £350 or something I think it was! Love it, its a core part of my RP and R usership!
