great lens, had it for my sony and will consider for the nikon too

You'll hate every minute using it will want to sell it to me for the princely sum of £10 pounds :D

Fancy a change from your Nikon then do you :naughty:would you want that to include P&P aswell:bonk:

Only ordered it last night so will have to wait whilst it weaves its way through the post strike but quite looking forward to its arrival

hey Bob... how have you found the lens? I'm thinking of getting this one as well... can i ask where you bought it from & for how much?

Have one on my d300 - i think my nikon 17-55 was better at f2.8, but little of no difference at other apertures.Better length for me too and much cheaper.

the price is obviously a big factor... I'd go for something in the 17-55 range, but I think I'm going appreciate the extra reach to 75mm more than the wider end for what I use :-)

Its an excellent lens - I use them in both Nikon and Sony fit, and find them excellent.

Probably one of the best value lenses you can buy, and optically its way up there with own-brand 24-70's from Nikon and Sony as well.

i think you've sold me!
i was reading your Sigma woes last night Puddleduck, sounds you like you had a rough time with those lenses! but the Tamron looks perfect for what I want, so think i'll go for one :)

This is a great lens used mine on my 40D until I dropped it last week, lovely and sharp and nice colours. The focusing searches at times, but still a fantastic lens for the money.

oh no!
well I've just bitten the bullet and ordered one from Onestop :)

Don't take that as much of a negative, I really loved this lens, and was fully intent in replacing it with another one until I got a 17-55 at a very nice price.

You will be more than happy with this, it really is one sharp lens and nice reach on it.

hehe, the 'oh no' was meant in reply to the unfortunate accident of dropping it ;)
i was tempted by the 17-55 (or similar) but as I'm looking to take gig/concert images, the extra reach to 75mm is going to be good for closeups/tight photos. there's always the classifieds section on here to re-sell ;)

Are the postmen still on strike over there, Bob !? Any opinions on it yet?

I must say, I agree with Andy (puddleduck) - this lens is excellent value and gives fantastic results. It's pretty lightweight too, which really is bonus when you're carrying it as a 2nd or 3rd lens .

Here's a picture I got yesterday with my recently purchased 28-75mm.

Taken at ISO 200 and f/4 at 75mm on a Sony A350 - that's 14MP in a crop sensor. And through slightly dirty glass - so all together not ideal conditions.

And this is a 100% crop...
