Yes
Is it worth me buying one of these? Do they tend to work well? Easy to fit and remove?

My girlfriend has a Tamron AF 70-300mm (1:4-5.6) LD tele-macro(1:2) lens that she uses with her Minolta Dynax 404 SI.

My zoomiest lens currently is my 18-105mm kit lens I got with the D90 so I was thinking of either buying a new zoom lens for me or maybe just using her zoom lens.

There's not actually such a thing as a 'tamron' mount, the lens is made BY Tamron, but it has a Minolta/Sony mount. You'll probably lose autofocus if you can find an adaptor, or to get one that retains AF you'd probably have to spend as much on it as a new Tamron 70-300 would cost anyway! Just go for a new lens if you need it!

I use these to flit between Sony and Nikon.

Yes, very easy to fit and mount and remove. No more than a 10 second job - just press a small tab then twist.

This assumes your lens is a Tamron Adaptall or Adaptall 2....

Losing autofocus doesn't seem very appealing to be honest. I thought this might be a nice cheap option for getting the use of her lens but I'm not sure its worth the bother now.

Not sure, it doesn't mention 'Adaptall' on it at all. I believe its over 10 years old though.
