I've got a PC I use as a server. My desktop is connected to it via a router. I have a laser printer connected by USB to the server and I can't print from my desktop as it shows the printer as being 'offline'. I can't get the darn thing to print anything. Does anyone have any ideas how to get the printer to show it's online. The LCD display on the printer is showing ready and it prints test pages fine.

I would have thought the printer would need connecting directly to the router to make or part of the network?

It never used to be and it used to work fine.

What does the server have to say about the printer?

On the server go to the printers folder, right click and see if Use Printer Offline is ticked.

The server is still turned on and functioning isn't it?

Might sound daft but I know a guy who totally overlooked it.....his IT chap made a fortune out of the call out

:D

not sure if this is useful info but you can get usb wireless things to connect printers to wireless networks.
