When photographing sports, such as football, rugby, hockey etc, do you focus on the ball to follow the action or try and anticipate where the action is going to be - as at corners etc?

97% of the time you're going to want to focus on a specific player, use AI servo or whatever you like and track them as they're doing their thing.

Thanks for comments. I must be really really thick as I cannot see a notify button anywhere. Thought this would be the right forum for technique, but obviously not. Perhaps some kind Mod will move this to the right area.

Usually i track the ball to the action then shoot. for corners or freekicks i pick where i think it will got and focus on a player(s) in that area. For long clearances i'll look up from the camera to see where the ball is going then pick out the players that are obviously going for the ball
