I've recently acquired a Tamron 70-200mm 2.8 (Nikon fit) and I'm thinking about getting a teleconverter for it.

My question is:

Which brand of teleconverter should I go for?

Can I use a Nikon one with it? Or do I have to get the Tamron one? Or what about third-party ones like Kenko?!

Any advice about compatibility, functionality, image quality etc would be greatly appreciated.

I'd go with the Kenko 1.4X Pro 300 DG, there's a one stop loss of light ie your 200mm f/2.8 will become a 280mm f/4 , i've used one on a Nikon 80-200mm and the quality is excellent.

The Tamron teleconveter is a re-badged Kenko.

Nikon AF-S TC's won't fit.

Go with a Kenko Pro 300 DG.

So it seems that the Kenko ones are the way to go! Thanks guys.

Anyone have any thoughts on the 1.4x versus the 2x? Any practical experience with either (or both!)?
