Testing a memory card - possibly faulty..?

Is there any way to tell is a card has failed ?
I have a Sandisk Extreme 45MB/S card that seems to have stopped working - it did work, now it doesn't record images when in my camera and reads as empty when put into a card reader.
I've had it some time (maybe a couple of years) with no problems and believe it to be genuine.

So, do you know of any way to test to see if it should be binned ?

Also, there's a lifetime warranty on SanDisk cards. If it's failed, contact their customer services.

Possibly stupid suggestion: check the write lock switch on the side of the card.
