They fixed it on the EM1-II via a firmware so I'm sure Sony can,... if they want to. Fortunately I don't burst more than about 20 shots, and it's rare that I do that many tbh. But even a few seconds delay after doing a burst of 5 or 6 is irritating.It decreases the annoyance but if you are bursting its still very much annoying from time to time. Once you rack up say 30-50 shots in a burst you are stuck waiting anyway.
Sony really need to either fix it i.e. release firmware so that camera allows you to change settings or in future releases use faster cards. I am not fan of CFexpress cards because they are so darn expensive but I'd be willing to pay the price if it means this won't be a problem. Currently its probably the most annoying thing about the camera for me.
I use the fastest sandisk pro cards and the mafrotto rugged/tough cards which are also very close to fastest SD cards.
