they have pretty much finished all the school curriculum and are on top of that. I am thinking of teaching them some other skills like building a website or financing etc. may be even photography but I have to work 5 days a week at the moment.

Tbh the novelty of WFH is wearing off now. Used to do it one or two days a week and that was great. But doing it all 5 days for a long period of time isn't nice. I am already longing for some real human interaction!

Not to mention I am hoping missus and I don't kill each other, that's a bigger threat than covid :p

The biggest issue with Mrs WW is she watches absolute tosh on TV. Her latest thing is Swamp Thing which I find excruciating.

I much prefer a comedy, one that's funny not one of the more alternative modern ones, or a drama. We both like horror and action films but again some of the ones she picks are just IMO awful.

I don't watch TV at all and neither does the missus. Movies wise I'll watch almost anything and she is more picky so I'll let her pick.

The real issue for me is in the morning when I am working. She needs her through her chores and take care of the toddler and we inevitably get in each others way sometimes. This causes friction.

I do the housework, washing and ironing most of the cooking and washing up, I leave her to do her schoolwork. She is making some biscuits today :D

I spoke to my son who is a Geography teacher about grading pupils yesterday and within seconds he bamboozled me with what they were instructed to take into account such as course work, historic testing, mock exams, class input, projected grades etc. before the head of department and himself agreed a grade for each pupil. He felt they were trying to be as fair as possible to each of their pupils. Hopefully your daughters teachers will be the same. I wish her luck.

Thanks. I'm confident it's nothing to be worried about.

It really is a shame in situations like that. We have many in a similar position. Really feel for the amount of work and effort they have put in. However, it doesn't go to waste. They leave with the same values, work ethic, and knowledge that they would have done in a couple of months time. The only difference being that they won't sit an exam.

With regards to grades, we have no news how they will be decided yet. My personal feeling is that it will be a mixture of mocks/targets/predicted grades but no offical word as of yet. I am sure grades will be awarded fairly, taking everything into account. Mine certainly will if I have any say in the matter.

Thanks. Yes, I didn't mean a waste in the long term of things. They've still been taught plenty of skills, knowledge etc from you great teachers regardless. More the fact they'll never finish that work and get to the end result, they'll never see that work again come 2:30 this afternoon....

Glad my wife's not on TP...

Have you posted something naughty?

Oh, was it that I do the housework? If that's it don't worry as I'm sure your Mrs wouldn't want an obsessive bloke running round screaming about contamination and cleaning everything 24/7.

The two main things for me are image review and APS-C crop. If you shoot a burst of more than 2 shots quite often you can't actually review the last images and maybe only the first two. Also, it doesn't allow you to switch between APS-C and FF, one of the main features I bought the A7RIV for. I'd guess there's others but none that I've needed yet. Whilst it's not the end of the world it is frustrating and it is a step backwards. Olympus solved this via firmware so I'm not sure why Sony can't?
Honeymoon period will end soon ;)

can you customise a button to change it to apsc like you can on the R3?

yes, I personally use the button on the lens to do this. But I think he want to change to APS-C crop mode when the buffer is clearing and the camera is not letting him.
haven't tested this myself....

If anyone has time...

What's the difference between the A7RIII and IV? I've seen that the III is a lot cheaper so I just wondered if the IV is a big step up and if it is in what areas?

PS.
It's a lovely day here at least at the moment, blue skies, clouds and reasonably good light. I'd love to go for a walk but we're supposed to be self isolating and someone will be bringing the shopping later and they'll go mad if they find out we've been out.

more pixels, better EVF, better IBIS and pixel shift, better AF inc. real-time AF.

Out of curiosity what is you want to do when the camera is writing to buffer that you can’t? I can’t say I have ever noticed not being able to do something I wanted.

for me start recording a movie, or change settings like the burst rate or focus area.

Yes and that's what I've done, but as nandbytes said if I've taken a shot and then want to change to crop mode (or out of crop mode) I can't do it until the buffer's cleared.

Pretty sure it's firmware, Olympus EM1-II was similar and then they fixed it with an update.

Pretty sure it's firmware, Olympus EM1-II was similar and then they fixed it with an update.

That will depend on the specific design of the different cameras - the EM1-ii is 'only' shifting 20MP images about, rather than the 61MP of the Riv - so it may be possible on the Riv, but (for example) the response is very 'laggy' - so the engineers thought it safer to disable it.
From working with embedded imaging systems (though I'm not an embedded specialist, but we're a small team, so do some embbeded work) I know resources are often very tight, with everything designed to use every last byte of memory, etc.

Cheers Tom. It's the trying to work from home managing a team remotely and doing the home schooling that I know I'll struggle with. For a 5 year old it's going to seem like a hot of a holiday to start with. Plenty of people in the same boat though, and I'm thankful I still have a job and am able to work the way I can.

I'm pretty much a carbon copy of you. We've been trialling teams and join.me this last two days to do the video conferencing with the Team, it's actually been one of those, "why haven't we done this before" moments.

it does make people sit up and actually pay attention doesn't it

We use teams at work.
Have done for a while. Works great.

Anyone else noticed that the grey market websites have started pushing up the prices of late, maybe related to coronavirus?

The A7III body only is now £1459 at e-infinity

The A9 is now £2368 at e-infinity

The Sony 20mm f/1.8 has also jumped from £739 too £799.

all prices have jumped up not just that lens due to poor currency :(

Bad times if you are looking at buying anything, most people have less money and prices all going up. :$

Not just the grey places see the A9 is back up to £3299 u.k price again with no sorts of offers free grip etc. :$

for some reason Sony aren't doing any offers atm. The rest of brands are still doing the photography show offers even if the show is cancelled.

It was back up to £3299 just after I sold my A9, the A9 II went up at the same time.
As mentioned, prices are going to go up now...... I am throwing money into stocks and hoping they pay off in the long-run.

Good luck with that, hope you dont expect to make or break even anytime soon.

I will have a look into it. There are websites like tutor2u for example that is really good for some subjects (business and economics for example), there are loads of free coding courses and websites about that might help as well. In terms of finance, I have a tonne of resources on business related finance right up to A-level standard.

I wonder how Nikon and Olympus are going to fair considering they're already struggling? :(

I bought them all during the COVID-19 ramp up and when the Oil war started between Saudi and Russia, so not expecting short-term gains but long-term I think it'll be fine.... I hope! lol :D

olympus seems to be on top in Japan as per recent figures.
Nikon will have wasted their efforts on DSLRs and their 10K lens if olympics are cancelled and they can't produce/sell them.
I did say a while back it was stupid decision....
