The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Same here too 377 and no issue

And as you guys prob know mine would of been nearly one of the first made.

Its difficult, depending on how fussy you are.

Not sure I'd agree with this yet. I think our testing is flawed on a few levels.

I'll detail it with samples when I have more time. But TL;DR - it's a good lens for portrait, action and landscapes but not so good if you want to shoot macro @f1.4 :p
The lens seems to be rather well optimised for its intended purpose and my only issue with it is CA wide open.

My testing has been accurate, I repeated the test all day long comparing against the Samyang and my Sony 85 wide open at various distances and it showed up every time. Close, mid, far. Always the right side of the frame, its not difficult to test for and is a very common issue. Stopped down it improves.

ok, I don't have a samyang to compare against so I will make no comments on differences between the two.

I can only comment on my copy of zeiss and as I said I'll post more details when I get some more time :)

You don't really need a comparison, you just look across the frame, the left is sharper than the right wide open, its decentered. I used the Samyang to check my test methods.

for decentering I did a few more tests... I will post more details when I have some spare time to properly confirm my findings

They would sell one more if they made a 24-70 instead of 28-75 :/
They'd at the same time sell one less because it'd be as huge as the GM :p

What I am trying to say is it's not possible to please everyone it's better that we atleast have two different options :)

Yup. And it'd probably cost more too and surely people are interested in this lens because it's a bit more compact and cheaper.

A bit late maybe but here's an A9 review at Fstoppers...

https://fstoppers.com/gear/mirrorless-camera-rivals-pro-dslrs-fstoppers-reviews-sony-a9-247948

On the price they say...

"The camera itself is about $1,300 cheaper than a Canon 1D X II and $2,300 less than the Nikon D5. Whether they are on the same level or not is hard to say. The a9 is a very high performing camera with tons of features that pros will enjoy. It’s unclear if the weather sealing and longevity of the Sony is on par with its competitors, only time and user feedback will tell."

I don't understand how anyone can review a Sony camera (or lens) without saying it's overpriced compared to a mid range DVD player. These Fstoppers guys must be Sony fanboys.

:D lol
Sony A9 is a "GAME CHANGER" Isn't that right @jonneymendoza

I think they post some good articles on that site but they do seem obsessed with painfully thin women.

Woah, the D5 is only £650 more here.

I'm not in the market for these so I may have got something wrong but looking at Wex Photo and not bouncing around between grey and UK stock at different dealers...

Nikon D5 = £5,389
Sony A9 = £4,299

5389-4299=£1,090.

Just had a double check at Jessops and they're exactly the same price as Wex.

More than enough saving for a decent DVD player and probably a telly too.

Try using Eye-AF on the Nikon D5... or black out free 20 fps shooting.... I'd take the DVD player every time :D lol

I didn't see the discount code, just looked at the price in big red letters. So it's "only" £650 more today but when the offer ends on 31st May presumably the price goes back up until the next discount.

They all do offers, we don't live in the future and the difference today is £650.

For indoor i'm reaching for the 16-35mm over the 35mm 1.4 - as you can shoot slower shutter speeds anyway due to the wider FL - but even with the 1.4 primes I was shooting 1/100th to keep ISO <1000

A good portion of the photos were actually in colour, but as I picked them I found that I picked B+W :D

The girl in the band photos is 12! and she writes music too

50mm 1.4
