Think I will chuck the extra warrany on the lens - probably be more expensive to repair if ut goes wrong!

Glad to hear it, you might struggle shifting that junk though probably best just to bin it. :D
 
ok - question re banding with electronic silent shutter.
shooting a wedding at the weekend and am disappointed that sony have still not found a way of dampening the mechanical shutter. its quite loud, especially in continuous.

trying to establish if silent shooting will be an option during the ceremony.
is banding still present in the a73 when shooting under lights?
 
Anyone on here have the Zeiss Batis 25mm f2 ?

I am thinking about buying one top quality but light ish lens for my A73 and this just keeps catching my eye !

Is there a FF camera whose mechanical shutter is considerably silent?

Haven't had banding issue so far in silent mode on my A7RIII.

Shame they've had a recall on pretty much every FF they have made since the D700, and the Z bands heavily and it has 1 slot and no eye AF, no native lenses, cant do fast FPS with AF and AE either.

At least you can take it outside all 12 months in the UK weather :p

What good are all those things if you don't have the camera with you :D

Because UK weather is best known for its predictability.
Could you please tell me if it'll rain or not on 25th Dec in central London between 6am to 11am.
And I'll be sure to check up with you for a soothsaying next time we plan a day out or a holiday in the UK.

My A73 and 70-200 are both still working fine after a rainy day out!

I don't need a 1 month forecast to tell you I won't be in the rain photographing.

Heres an idea dont go running around in the rain taking photos and purposefully getting your camera and family soaked, they'll be really keen for you to take photos of them in a downpour.

Plenty of people have said the A7 is fine when wet, people here use it professionally and have posted photos of them soaked but what about all the recalls and the other problems I mentioned that you ignored.

Just buy your Z and stop moaning.

Your excuse for poor build on a 3+K camera is as bad as canikon fanbois claiming one card slot is just fine because their cards have never died

I'll buy whatever the hell I want and I don't need your permission to moan :p
If you don't like reading bad things about your perfect camera turn off your router :D

Im not talking about your A9, that I think should've had better sealing as it was marketed as the sport/action camera. You should sell it, really cheap.

Perfect camera, yeah right, you're the one who doesn't like it but won't switch because you know the other side isnt better.

Have encountered banding using the silent shutter quite a few few times at weddings. I only really use it during the ceremony and always take a few tests shots first just to be sure if it is going to have an impact.

I don’t think the mechanical shutter is loud it’s much quieter than the D750 for example.

Agreed - I would say its quite a bit quiter than my D750 was.
