Yeah that makes sense, but I can't get out of my head that it's a £6500 camera. I just can't see myself ever spending that on a camera no matter how good it may be or how long I may keep it. I pushed the boat out getting the Z7 and A7RIV, I think that's my limit tbh.
The A7RIV is still a great camera, I've had no issue with motorsports or wildlife (I don't do BIF really), I just have to accept that it's pants for Betty running at the camera As long as it's OK for marathons etc.
I'm the same with lenses I read so much information on them it takes me a long time to decide which to get, it's rare I swap and change.
20mm definitely next that's decided then im pretty sure I want the Voigtlander 35 f1.2.
I never get too invested with my Canon, only had the kit lens, nifty fifty and the 100mm macro.I have been through at least 100 lenses
We all justify things differently, there’s no rights or wrongs as long as the individual is happy. It's funny seems a silly amount for a camera but I wouldn't bat an eyelid at spending that on a mountain bike (my other hobby).
In fact just the frame I'm considering for my next bike is £3k.
As above we all justify and value things differently. I can ‘accept’ ‘losing’ £20k on a car over 4 years but I can’t justify £6500 on a camera. Don’t ask me why, that’s just how my brain worksWould you spend £6.5k on a car change don't really need? Many people would. Years back when the reg changed every year I knew a guy who always got a new car on 1st August. I know some people must have the latest camera too and that's ok for them. For others who only change once in a while maybe even a £6.5k camera is ok?

Just think how many camera bags I could buy with £6.5KWe all justify things differently, there’s no rights or wrongs as long as the individual is happy.

Haha, I couldn't justify £6500 on a camera even if I could afford it.
Thanks. If photography was my income I’d definitely be able to justify a camera like the A1, but for a hobby, especially one I’m not great at it’s a bit over indulgent for me.At the moment I am using Sony A7 III I was looking for A7R IV for the extra MP (always useful, when you need a tight crop with extra detail), but I think the best option is to wait and see what will happen.
Well, as all we can notice the prices are going up. Every new model is more and more expensive.
And yes, £6500 is quite a lot, I must admit.
Not sure about the others, but I am working with my camera, this is my main official job and what I do for living.
Having one body for my photo and video work and being able to get high class stabilized footage is very very tempting for me (Talking to myself about Sony A1)
So, may be a good investment in the future (if it deliver what it is promising)
The problem for me is not the investment, the problem is the current situation in UK/world. My models are not able to travel, so my work is almost 100% down, postponed or cancelled.
Once the current restrictions are lifted (hopefully in the next several months) I will think about it (A1) and meanwhile it will mature a little and we will have more actual/real unbiased reviews (which is more and more difficult with these paid youtubers that are praising everything that they are paid for).
Really, really nice photos! Well done.
Still looking ...And you still wouldn't find a perfect one

It is very impressive, but there's nothing about it that would make me a better photographer.
I’ll always be turning out crap Blackout free shooting could improve things as I do sometimes lose track of moving targets due to the blackout, especially slow shutter pans.It is very impressive, but there's nothing about it that would make me a better photographer.
In my hands it would still be capable of producing crap photos....
You could book a 121 workshop with a photographer specialising in an area you want to get better at. I reckon someone seriously looking at this camera but who has some doubts over their abilities can afford a day or two out with a pro.It is very impressive, but there's nothing about it that would make me a better photographer.

The point I was making was that I don't need a £6500 camera....doesn't mean I wouldn't want one though, just don't need one.You could book a 121 workshop with a photographer specialising in an area you want to get better at. Lots of landscape, wildlife etc workshop leaders climbing over themselves for clients and lots of workshops etc out there for clients of any ability.
And be honest, what's so lacking in your photography (I've seen you post decent landscapes) and if still think there are issues then already then you know how to fix it...
I certainly noticed more detail in the Riii shots, the EVF was better but having now tried the 73, r73 and a9 i'm still less than impressed with the EVF's and LCD's, I do miss the Fuji's in this regard. This is all slightly funny - I'm wondering about whether there would be value in trading my A7III for an rIII and how much that would cost me, never mind £6.5K for an A1.
It may be a cultural thing - I find it difficult to both buy and especially to sell.
Nikon Z7's had the best EVF and LCD I've used, imo better than the Fuji (although I've not tried the XT4)I certainly noticed more detail in the Riii shots, the EVF was better but having now tried the 73, r73 and a9 i'm still less than impressed with the EVF's and LCD's, I do miss the Fuji's in this regard.
I can see now why so many people say the A73 is the sweet spot for performance vs cost
Had the Z6. Totally agree.Nikon Z7's had the best EVF and LCD I've used, imo better than the Fuji (although I've not tried the XT4)
Want or need?I need to get off this forum again, I really want to buy the A1 :banghead::banghead::banghead:
Glass, body, tripod, bag, computer, monitor, plus yourself. Your system is only as good as its weakest link. The point I was making was that I don't need a £6500 camera....doesn't mean I wouldn't want one though, just don't need one.
Any future funds for me will likely be spent on glass....

No can do, just put a deposit on a new (to me) carWith you next car buy one that is one year older and save the £5K, spend the saving on a camera....simples.....

Something wider than 24mm which is the widest I have right now (24-105mm)Glass, body, tripod, bag, computer, monitor, plus yourself. Your system is only as good as its weakest link.
What lenses do you think you'll go for?
Put a private plate on and the other half will never notice the difference. With you next car buy one that is one year older and save the £5K, spend the saving on a camera....simples.....
I thought about buying a bigger telly, and swapping them when she was out....Put a private plate on and the other half will never notice the difference.
Wait until the 4th Feb for reviews to comeI need to get off this forum again, I really want to buy the A1 :banghead::banghead::banghead:[emoji23]

Guess we'll wait for the a1 mk2 lolNot impressed
Especially if their birdAF isn't any good. Also seems like they think R5 is better for all animals and you don't even have to pick between animals or birds separately as far as I know.
Or the AiAioGuess we'll wait for the a1 mk2 lol
