We seem to have a surplus. No sky at all today.

Either keep the A7iii and wait until the A7ciii which is surely coming or temporarily switch for a A7iv which is a bit of a bargain.
A7IV has the rubbish flippy screen not the do it all screen.Either keep the A7iii and wait until the A7ciii which is surely coming or temporarily switch for a A7iv which is a bit of a bargain.
My bad I guess just wait for a new A7c body although the flippy tilty screen might be reserved for the larger bodies.

Looks a good size, but there's no aperture ring which is a shame. Will be interesting to see the IQ though. This 35mm f2.2 could be interesting.
New images of the SG-image 35mm f/2.2 AF FE pancake lens | sonyalpharumors
A Chinese photographer is testing the newSG-image 35mm f/2.2 FE AF lens and he wrote: I quite like the third version of the engineering lens that Master Gu handcrafted; I take it with me almost everywhere. Not long ago, I went to the countryside for the winter solstice and even took some...www.sonyalpharumors.com

Terrible compression when uploading via the imgbb mobile version!
I have done the buying last year, hoping for a GAS-free 20261th January 2026. A New Year.
Who'll be the first to buy something? The race is on... but of course it's not just the buying, then comes the testing and analysing and comparing.
I'm being tempted by the Epson 8550 printer so this could well be my first purchase of the New Year1th January 2026. A New Year.

Which 35?? Lab f1.2 ?I'm being tempted by the Epson 8550 printer so this could well be my first purchase of the New Year
Also, I bought Viltrox 14mm and was really pleased with the IQ so now I'm tempted to get the Viltrox 35mm - Decisions Decisions![]()
Nothing's on my radar, keep toying with the 24-70mm but I'm not sure how many studio shoots I plan on doing this year.1th January 2026. A New Year.

It was the 35mm f1.7 but looking again it seems to be for the a6*** system so thats off the cards nowWhich 35?? Lab f1.2 ?
Looks to be a great lens
Viltrox optics are fantastic but they seem a bit behind someone like sigma in terms of tech for minimising size and AF performance.
They remind of sigma in DSLR era, large but optically sharp lenses with minor AF issues.

Me too, I was decided on the A7Cr but I’m thinking either A7V or RV for street now along with my Z8 for landscapes.Still debating over the 7v and 7rv.
Z8 for landscape rather than RV?Me too, I was decided on the A7Cr but I’m thinking either A7V or RV for street now along with my Z8 for landscapes.
Both have their strong and weak points but they’re only like £300 apart.. makes the decision more difficult.
If they were £1000 apart it wouldn’t be so tricky.
I’ve already got the Z8 now but I find it too bulky for walking around doing street photography, so I was going to opt for the smaller Sony R body and use each body when necessary.Z8 for landscape rather than RV?

You could buy the Sony A7RV and use it for both street and landscape meaning you could sell the Z8 and save some penniesI’ve already got the Z8 now but I find it too bulky for walking around doing street photography, so I was going to opt for the smaller Sony R body and use each body when necessary.
True but then I lose the option to use the 24-200 and the 180-600.You could buy the Sony A7RV and use it for both street and landscape meaning you could sell the Z8 and save some pennies![]()
I bought 3 batteries for my Sony this morning if that counts
Nappy New Year everyone

Three main options new sigma 20-200mm f3.5-6.3, new tamron 25-200mm f2.8-5.6, 28-200mm f2.8-5.6Ok so let’s say I switch away from the Nikon Z8 and stick with one body, is the Tamron 28-200 better than the Nikon 24-200? Or is there something else I can try?
Luckily I haven’t invested a lot of money into Nikon Z so it’s easy for me to swap.
I’m also familiar with the Sony system and there’s a few GM’s I’m wanting to own again, 24/35/85.
Or I could just buy the adapter to use Sony glass on the Z8 and just stick to my original plan and pickup the A7V/RV along with the Z8.
Best of both worlds then, I get the IQ and handling from the Z8 and I also get the much lighter and discreet Sony body for when I feel like doing some street photography.
I would argue the IQ of the A7RV is better than the Z8, so it's just the handling which if course is a very personal thing.Best of both worlds then, I get the IQ and handling from the Z8 and I also get the much lighter and discreet Sony body for when I feel like doing some street photography.
I’ve used the Sony 24-240 and wasn’t impressed so that’s out, I’ll have to look into the Sigma and Tamron versions and see which I prefer.Three main options new sigma 20-200mm f3.5-6.3, new tamron 25-200mm f2.8-5.6, 28-200mm f2.8-5.6
There is a Sony 24-240mm which is quite bad.
Nikon's weak spot is 24mm especially in corners. Tamron 28-200mm was generally better in IQ than Nikon 24-200mm but didn't have that 24mm wide angle.
new Tamron 25-200mm which is better than 28-200mm will be sharper at wide angle and has f2.8 so it can stop down one stop to get advantage.
sigma 20-200mm is also sharper, not as sharp as tamron at wide end but you get 20mm end which is fair bit wider.
At long end Sigma seems sharpest of the bunch.
Tamron also has less distortion than both sigma and nikon.
While not 1st party lenses, overall tamron/sigma offerings are better than 1st party lenses from Sony (by a large margin) and nikon (by a smaller margin but in a meaningful way).
Personally i have tried 28-200mm and missed 24mm end. I had 20-70mm+tamron 50-300mm for a while. I recently got sigma 20-200mm which is now my only zoom.
My other lenses are Sony 16mm f1.8, sigma 35mm f1.2ii (replacing my 35GM which is in sales now), Samyang 85mm f1.4 ii and sigma 500mm f5.6
Once you get into the higher MP though, 45>61 unless you’re printing massive I personally can’t see much of a difference between the two.I would argue the IQ of the A7RV is better than the Z8, so it's just the handling which if course is a very personal thing.
