Unless your using it professionally and it’s going to greatly affect every image or the final images is there a point in fixing or selling it?
I didn’t once clean my a7iii in 6 years. Lightroom easily removed them even if it’s time consuming on certain images.

After nearly 20 years I’ve come to the conclusion that these cameras and lenses suck in and attract dust non stop.
Every camera I’ve owed had manky sensors and every lens regardless of the make or cost ends up with internal dust if it’s used properly.

I’m just looking into options at the moment, one of which is to do as you say and keep the camera and just remove the blemishes in Lightroom. This seems the most sensible option, but I’m rarely sensible :lol:

Been to Crantock Beach a couple of times. We usually stay at Retallack Resort which is close to Wadebridge/Padstow area and another resort we use is Piran Meadows which is a bit closer to Newquay.

If it'll be on your mind then get it done. I speak as someone who has issues when trying to ignore things... once seen can not be unseen etc.

Other than that, can you do some sort of mapping out? It sticks in my mind that there's something along those lines that you can do so you don't have to clone these out in every picture but I can't remember the details and it is an extra step which in itself can be triggering.

I think I'd just get it done :D
 
I'm with Alan. Once you know there's an issue it will always be at the back of your mind until you sort it.

It's annoying as I like my gear to be pristine, but it will depend on cost of repair. If Sony can replace the filter glass and it costs a couple of hundred quid then it's worth doing, if it's a full sensor replacement and going to cost £1500-2000 then it's not worth doing. They're only tiny and I can't see them every ruining a photo, especially with modern AI removal in lightroom and photoshop.

If it was going to cost £1500-2000 I'd rather sell the camera as is (assuming offers are too lowball) and then put that £1500-2000 towards an A1 II.

My New Wheels.:D And just a little play with the new A7V & 35GM

Our time is up of me and Clare struggling to lift my current large 8MPH boot scooter into our Mazda CX60. So have ordered a Kia PV5 Passenger and we have bought some ramps so we can wheel the scooter straight into the back of the PV5. It will make a huge difference to my independence, as hopefully I can mange the loading of the scooter on my own which will enable me to get out more.

One thing that I thought of with this is that potentially some detail you want to keep could be removed. I know it's unlikely but even a remote possibility would get stuck in my mind. On the whole and in Toby's place I think I'd just get it fixed, spend the money but save the ocd :D

I’d agree, but it’s a short term fix, if it was just set up as a preset and not applied on import, it could just be applied when required

Well some good (ish) news is that Sony have quoted a rough price of £240 for the sensor filter to be replaced, so I’m ‘happy’ to pay that and get it sorted. They have asked for the original proof of purchase though :thinking:

I'm tempted by this despite having the Sony 24mm f2.8 and 28mm f2 but what I'd really like is a compact 28mm f2 that's more compact than the Sony f2 and with better IQ. I think that could happen as the Sony 28mm f2 isn't a great lens and it must be possible to improve on it even in a small package if anyone really want to try and do it but so far no one has and I do think making this a 26mm is an odd choice,

Also, this guy seems to have embraced perspective distortion to the point that it's all I can see in his pictures. Sometimes this can be something to aim for and enjoy but in this guys pictures it seems to be omnipresent. Perhaps this is his love or maybe he doesn't notice.

I think his claim that you can still get shallow depth with a 26mm f2.8 needs a bit of explaining. Yes, you can do it but only when you get close to a subject like a wine glass and when you do do it how interesting is that picture going to be?

Focus performance would be a worry for me and probably be the first thing I'd look at.

£203 on AliExpress. People may be reluctant to buy off AliExpress but I find them and their returns procedure easier and better than Amazon and Ebay.

Had another play with an A1 II today, I take everything back I said about the grip, it is better than the one I have :ROFLMAO:

Would Sony stop this being as Tamron lenses are available for most mounts? I can't see them doing that.

No but Canon/Nikon might stop new productys working on their lens mounts, if Sony/Tamron became very aggressive in marketing terms you could see them throttling what can be used on their mounts to protect sales of their own glass

I haven’t got time to watch the video right now but that update’s been out quite a while, October or November last year I believe?
 
Just idly scrolling through my photos taken when I used Sony, and came across this taken with the A7C (original) and 24-70 Zeiss. I remember enjoying this camera for its form factor and IQ, less so for its ergonomics such as button placement and lack of control wheels. I believe the A7C ii is much improved.

Mrs WW has offered to buy me the Voltrox 26mm f2.8.

I have the Sony 24mm f2.8 and 28mm f2. The 24mm is ok size wise and the 28mm f2 is bigger but still small by todays standards I suppose.

They're all close enough FoV wise to compare so I looked at apertures. The 26mm at f2.8 gives a max aperture of 9.2mm. The Sony 24mm at f2.8 gives 8.6mm and the 28mm f2 Sony gives 14mm.

I'll have to have a think. Is the 26mm worth trying? It is small and that is attractive. Hmmm.

Which 40mm is this?

I have heard good reports of the new Viltrox a/f lenses.
 
It's the Sony 40mm f2.5 and I think it's a good lens.

I've just remembered that I bought a TTArtisans 40mm f2 and if that lens could be on your list you should maybe prepare for the possibility of disappointment. Mine went straight back as on my camera it had three issues, it kept locking the camera up, it kept calling up the magnified view and I didn't think that the apertures were accurate.

Is an extra 2 year warranty and having an official UK model worth the extra £1000? :thinking:
 
I think they're only £800 on AliExpress.

Only Joking, I'd probably go Panamoz as £1k is a lot of money and might just pay for a repair or two if needed.

The extra 2 years is essentially useless to most amateurs who change their cameras more regularly than that.

I found it for £4860 UK with 5 year warranty so have gone for that. From my experience I've had trade in reduced by 10% for grey cameras so taking this into account along with the extra 2 year warranty I thought it was worth the extra.

Stephen, good point I'm normally a major culprit of this, however I've now had my A1 over 3 years and, famous last words, I can't see what else I'd need/want from a camera ;)

Edit: I've just checked and Wex reduced my offer by 18% not 10%.
