There are connectors that can allow these to be used but seems very hot and miss with which ones work ok

The app is about all you can use currently, but my phone is old and battery drains fast using it.

Edit: Google says I can still use the multi USB port on my A1 II so I should be able to use my exisiting wireless shutter release, I'll try it out at some point this weekend.

Edit 2: Looks like there's several USB-C shutter releases for Sony on amazon

Edit 3 :lol: My current multi USB shutter release works on the A1 II :)

The Hawkchurch Resort which I mentioned earlier could be more suitable. It's set in the Country side and is tree lined on the road leading to the properties and there's plenty of countryside around the resort. Also, it's close to the Jurassic Coast which I also like photographing. Finally it's on the Devon/Dorset border so there's plenty of photo opportunities nearby.



PS the both resorts I have mentioned are dog friendly

I thought I read somewhere the remotes would be different for the two cameras. I will give the Creators App a go next week as I have loaded both cameras into the App and it seems fine using it around the home. Any problems and I will manually set the cameras like @woof woof mentioned in his earlier post.

Ahh, I can’t help with that then as I have the f2.8 II (y). I think @nandbytes has the 70-200mm f4 macro and could offer some advice.

Looking at the pictures taken with it it looks about the same optical quality as a decent but not great mass market film era manual focus 50mm. I suppose for anyone looking for a cheap AF 50mm f1.8 it might be worth a look.

I'm always interested in cheap compact lenses but I don't see anything particularly appealing here especially with that flare. Anyone interested?

The rumor guys says the 400 and 600mm lenses will be announced tomorrow.

There doesn't seem to have been any more mention of the 28 and 40mm lenses, unless I've missed them. A 28mm could interest me.
 
Finally decided on a bag for the A7V and 40mm, went with the Vanguard Alta Rise 45. I couldn't find a similar, but slightly smaller version of the Manfrotto Hybrid, so that's been donated to my son.

The Alta Rise 45 ticked a few boxes: option to access from the side, separate top section for food etc (although not actually sealed off) and an outside stretchy pocket for a bottle of water, tripod carry system and a rain cover. I've no idea if Vanguard as a brand are any good though?

When I'm just taking one camera and lens I mostly use a cheap man bag I got in Thailand but the zip broke today :oops: :$ I have a spare again from Thailand but it's just not the same.
 
The new 400mm & 600mm are very very tempting (I temporarily didn't have any GAS).

I've been wondering whether I could swap my 100-400mm for the 400mm f4.5 and then use this with the 70-200mm f2.8 for motorsport, but this year I've been leaving the 70-200mm at home and it's been nice just having the one lens + a prime.
 
400mm and 600mm are nice lenses, and very manageable to work with all day. A little expensive but reasonable.

I wonder if 600mm is the same 400mm x 1.5x, and would you get almost the same by pairing 400mm with 1.4x? i.e. would anyone see the need to buy BOTH?
 
I've just had a strange experience with CS2026 when processing a raw. I wanted to remove some clutter/twigs from around Mrs WW using the remove tool but it wouldn't do it and gave me a message about it contravening their policy... lots of waffle including something about hurting others. AI must be both clever and stupid. I suppose it somehow at one level understood what was in the picture, a person and objects, and yet also misunderstood and thought that the bits I wanted to delete were somehow attacking her.

I gave up and used the erase tool in the jpeg processor.

I've never seen this before. It didn't object to the pictures before or after, just this one. Anyone else seen this message?

Definitely won't be buying both

The f4.5 is quite useful...
To me it'll probably come down to performance difference between 400mm+2x versus 600mm+1.4x

Sounds odd, I've removed people as well as bits of people in LR and PS and never had any issue. PS remove tool has become noticeably slower though, to the point of being annoying. I thought it was because it was cloud AI, but I swapped it to device and it's no better. Turning AI completely is much quicker as you'd expect, but the results aren't as good. AI removal didn't used to be this slow though so I'm wondering if they've changed some algorithm.

I have 400 5.6 and it can get limiting very quickly. I am actually considering 300mm f4 as a compromise.

I wish I'd taken a screen shot. I might try and recreate it, read the message properly and try and see what it's upset about. I suppose just as humans see faces in trees AI must se things that aren't really there too.

One thing did cross my mind, with everything gathering our data these days I wonder if the PS AI has added my name to a list for domestic abuse based on what it thought it saw..

I guess it depends on what you're shooting, I'd find 400mm limiting for motorsport but then not long enough for wildlife.

Well t be fair AI shouldn't be telling you what you can and can't do, it's a tool that should do as you wish not have a mind of its own :oops: :$

It shouldn't be stopping me from editing my own photos but I suppose these days it wouldn't surprise anyone if AI is looking for abuse. As above and only partly joking... I hope I'm not now on a list somewhere and being even more closely monitored.

That'd be wrong and scary. Checks on what you post online yes, what you do with images (within reason of course) in your own home is nobody's business.

I think it is worrying.

In another thread on here about TV's a forumer was surprised to know that some TV's can listen to your conversations and send snippets back to planet Samsung for analysis. We got a new Samsung TV recently and Mrs blasted through the setup at warp speed and before I could stop her she'd let the option fly by without opting out. I had to go back in and disable it. I don't think worrying about this constant monitoring and harvesting is all a conspiracy theory.

I was surprised to see this in PS though and I hope it's a one off.

I don't have issues with monitoring if it keeps us safe, but it has to know where the boundaries are. I know these manufacturers swear devices aren't listening but I'm sometimes discussing something with someone and then next thing it pops up straight away in my google search, it's happened too often for it to be coincidence.

Like I say though, it doensn't bother me, I have nothing to hide and if someone wants to 'Big Brother' me they'd have a pretty boring time, what I don't want is for common sense to be lost, and unfortunately with each new generation common sense appears to be lacking more and more :(
 
The Alta Rise 45 arrived and it seems like a decent bag. Material feels hard wearing, so hopefully it will last. The zips, pockets, clips etc have all been very well thought out and it's quite clever how they've designed it. I think the A7V will be quite happy in there. The bottle holder might be a little tight though, might have to stick to the smaller bottles of water.

Added bonus is that despite being a decent size rucksack, it actually qualifies for carry on luggage, just like my Manfrotto hybrid bag did. Very handy.
 
That's a nice lens and it could last a lifetime. I hope you have a lot of fun and great pictures with it.
