The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I was disappointed to read someone on Luminous Landscape posting to the effect that the Sony FF is effectively an APS-C mount and therefore can't handle wide aperture lenses as I thought that had been accepted as crap, but apparently not. By coincidence the rumor site has a bit from a Sony manager who mentions f1.0 lenses being doable but not good business...

Surely it'd be worth doing one and charging £6k for it just to shut the Canikon fanboys up.

I'm utterly disappointed you're still visiting LL after your utter dissatisfaction every time you visit it!

I bet those people are also Nikon users, and less than 6 months ago they were saying the F-mount were the best thing ever with it's 60 years of history and don't need F/1.0 lenses.

Reading over there makes me feel good about myself.

At least they haven't banned me again.

Can someone confirm whether or not the A7iii comes with a screen protector already on the LCD Screen or should I buy one?

I ordered mine just yesterday. Plenty of places have it in stock. Where did you order it from?
Harrisons.... not in a real rush as I have blown a considerable amount of money on audio / video hardware... so piggy bank is rather low lol :(

Been taking photos of bread for work...honestly, it is harder than you'd think!

Whatever, It’s £6.99??

Price isn't important, glass screen protectors that don't fit perfect always keep lifting on one side or corner and it's very annoying.

Have ordered a Sony 85mm f1.8 lens. Only £403 new (grey) with current 15% off code on eBay (capped at £50 off).

Brilliant lens, great price.

New "Vintage line" lenses from Voigtlander "could" come in e mount...

I hope they do come in e mount and if so I do hope they keep the same build and styling as nice though the black 35mm f1.4 and 40mm f1.2 e mount lenses are I much prefer this look and build.

Googled my way to this...

I'm still waiting on the CV40/1.2E but I will admit I do much prefer the look of the M mount version!!

Yup. I don't know what possessed them. They've gone from a gorgeous looking design to a black anonymous and characterless lump. And they've done it with lens after lens so it wasn't just a moment of madness with one lens.

I received my 35mm f1.4 Nocton but the adapter I got wouldn't allow infinity or anything like it so it's going back which has allowed me to have a rethink and I think I fancy a helicoid adapter. Does anyone know of a decent one that doesn't cost as much as the Voigtlander one?

PS.
I was expecting the lens to be soft and to display serious barrel distortion and CA but I found it to be easily sharp enough in the central area and also across all parts of the frame I'd expect and want it to be at f1.4 and the CA shooting in lowlight indoors with windows in the frame wasn't too bad. There is barrel distortion but in many shots it wont be a problem and there is a lens profile for it which will help.
