The best for the best?

I'm trying to decide whether I should purchase a full macro lens, for I often take profile/ silhouette pictures, or if I should purchase a wide lens, for I often do landscape.

Any help?

What sort of Budget are you talking about for a lens?

There's no reason why you can't take great landscape shots with something like a 105VR - it all depends on how you look for the shot. You can always stitch a few shots together too as there isn't much distortion.

I suppose the answer would be to get whatever you would get the most use out of. By the way, I'm not following the reasoning for using a macro for profile/ silhouette pictures - surely you can do this using any lens? Or are you doing profiles of very small things?
