The end of your favourite youtuber?

It is scary and annoying. I think established creators will maintain their audiences, but as people gradually drop off, maybe fewer will be able to discover them; and new creators using traditional real methods will struggle to find an audience. Maybe it will ultimately be the death of youtube for creators though, and tiktok perhaps, with new web things coming up that don't have an algorithm favouring AI?

It seems to me that it was inevitable.

John Brunner predicted this, with surprising accuracy, in his 1975 novel "The Shockwave Rider". The simple truth is that complete freedom to do as you like, requires total consideration for everyone else, which isn't how humans function. Brunner's imaginary solution to the imaginary problem seems utterly ridiculous now (but it was still a fascinating read).
 
"Progression" is natural and inevitable, it probably started with simple manufacturing, and will never stop. Vast number of jobs are lost as a result, and prices fall to make just about everything that isn't hand-made using age old traditional methods both better and affordable.

This has its sad elements, but what really concerns me is the misuse of technology to mislead us - for example political posts intended to deceive the public.

There's an antique type furniture store not far from me and I love going there. Whilst I appreciate that Ikea furniture and such has a place in many circumstances, I overwhelmingly prefer the quality of older handmade furniture and also the character. Quite often I also find that it's not really expensive, sometimes even cheaper these days.

Have you watched "Capture" on Netflix? It's worth a watch if you've got it and haven't already. It's about the real-time manipulation of CCTV, video and broadcasting video. The scary thing is that despite being a fictional series, the reality is probably just around the corner, possibly already here.
 
I guess it makes me sad and annoyed for the obvious reasons, that it becomes harder to discern reality from fiction and manipulation. But then I'm reminded that much of modern life depends on a chimera, an interpretation or representation of a reality that we are expected to believe is real/true/accurate, and so very often the real reality is that we are being gaslighted by politicians, companies or other people in our social environment.
 
This is a standard media trope; for any new technology that comes along there is an out-cry that the old technology will be lost and we will all be worse off. The reality is that people are still thatching roofs, riding horses, listening to vinyl records and shooting film. Its quite rare that new technologies totally replace the old.

I bet that vlogger hasn't got a video waning us that people like him on youtube will cause the death of photography magazines?

The printing press was where it all started to go wrong. Hand written misinformation is much harder to circulate :LOL:
