The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I can see this being my next purchase tbh. Looks a cracker.

It's not as cost effective as the 35mm f2, RRP appears to be £419 a saving on the 23mm f1.4 but initial reviews saying it's quite a bit softer than the f1.4 at f2. It was never really going to upstage the f1.4 which IMO is the best prime that Fuji make/sell.

For me, I want wider than a 35mm and smaller than the 23mm f1.4 which seems a fair bit bigger.

Is the 23mm f1.4 unwieldy on, say my x-t10? I'd be willing to stick to the smaller lens I think, but perhaps not at a premium / zero savings over the f1.4.

Anyone on the Fuji threads from Settle or nearby? We're hoping to move back up in November and it would be good to meet up.
As mentioned there are a few of us who meet on an irregular basis. It's a very select clique, and you'll only be allowed to join if you buy us a pint. Hang one, Settle is in Yorkshire. Make that two pints - each!

Cool, I've got the 16mm sitting on a desk at home waiting for a body. What filters are you using. I'm looking at picking up a set.
I use the Hoya PRO screw infilters. No obvious colour cast. I have the 72mm size and use a variety of step down rings depending on which lens. Means I can just have one size of filters. I think 72mm might be a bit too small. By the time I have rings/CPL and a couple of stacked filters on the 14mm I do get vignetting; maybe wider filters would stop me having to selectively crop & clone.

That's where a 24mm would work well ;)

Is this northern tightness that I detect :), if you have a series of rings, I assume you are going 58-62-67-72 to cover all Fuji bases, why not invest in a 58-72 ring, cost you less than a pint and brings the filter much closer to the lens. I do this, and haven't suffered any vignetting with the 14mm, even stacking filters,

If not I apologise (in advance) and your Hoya filters must be thicker than my posh Firecrest ones!!!! :D

Yes, but I'm originally from Lancashire, so haven't yet discovered how to get my hands to the bottom of my pockets.

Both great shots Colin but I prefer the short exposure, cant beat a bit of cloud porn!!

Quick bit of editing there, but not quick enough!
Agree about the clouds. I like clouds that look like clouds should.

I was born and bred in Halifax and have lived in London for about 40 years now and these southerners are still foreign to me.
I did 17 years in Cleckheaton. Surely that's enough suffering for me to get pity from any Yorkshireman?

Question for Mr Perceptive, or anyone using screw on long exposure filters. Do you remove your ND/ UV filter when using the other filters or use them on top? This is all new to me, not having use them before. :help:

Sorry whats a UV filter......... only kidding, question - why would anyone put a 'cheap' filter onto the front of some premium optics?? OK I understand that if you drop it, then the filter might take the impact, but a) be careful and b) there is a good chance that the broken filter will scratch the front of the lens anyway!!!! If it doesn't jam on the front with impact.

So I don't have one, I have lens hoods and suitable insurance!!! If you 'must' keep it on the front then it's up to you if you remove it or just screw in the long exposure ND filter. There are some downsides to stacking filters but generally this only becomes an issue if the filter stack is so deep it starts to vignette. You might get the two filters 'stuck' to each other, sometimes difficult to resolve on location, but easy when back at home, rubber gloves, mouse mat, etc.

Thanks for the advice/info. I've got some cheap ones to give it a try. If all goes well I'll then invest in some Hitech or Lee filters.

That's quite steep to be honest. I know the size appeals but that's the same sort of money as a second hand f1.4 if you look hard enough. It's a shame really as it would have been a viable alternative to an x100t when thrown on to an XE body. I'll keep the 27mm on there for the time being as its doing its job perfectly!

Your wish is my command, Sir.
I over worked it a touch to help with the intended conversion so the colours seem a tad OTT, but it was never intended for public consumption!

Thanks for that, Frank. As you say, a tad overcooked but that gives it an almost '70s Boots processed Kodak Gold look which rather suits it!
